The Debt Collector

Directed by: Jesse V.Johnson

Stars: Scott Adkins, Louis Mandylor, Vladimir Kullich, Michael Pare,  Selina Lo & Tony Todd

Jesse V.Johnson is back and this is no accident, as the fourth collaboration brings us a more mature outing for Scott Adkins in performance and tone.

DCpostThe film starts with French (Scott Adkins) fighting off some local thugs that want a piece of his Martial Arts studio and after dispatching said thugs seeks help from his training partner Alex (Michael Pare) who provides him with a contact for a debt collecting gig.  Tommy (Vladimir Kullich) the boss teams him up with Sue (Louis Mandylor) who shows him the ropes but soon they find themselves in a position that will test both their beliefs and dictate their destinies.

I said at the start of this review and I'll stand by it Scott Adkins brings a maturity to hisTheDebitLouis performance and this is something I believe Jesse is bringing out in his films, both Savage Dog (reviewed here) and Accident man (reviewed here) give Scott a chance to really flex both his on screen fighting and acting prowess.  With Louis Mandylor playing his partner in this buddy like action flick Jesse has found the perfect foil for with Louis just chewing up the scenes and really giving Scott someone to have that rapport which works so well in The Debt Collector.

There's some nice performances from Selina Lo as Sandy soon to be seen in another Jesse pic Triple threat with Scott Adkins, Tony Jaa and Iko Uwais, also we get Tony Todd who is always a pleasure to watch on screen. The screen belongs though to the two leads that work so well in delivering punchlines as well as punches.

The Debt Collector is another fine example of Jesse really bringing the best out of all at his disposal we can't wait to see what he brings next in Avengement.
